Weatherford REGION TAX ADVISOR in ABERDEEN, United Kingdom
JOB PURPOSE To provide functional support throughout the region on issues such as tax compliance, transfer pricing, strategy and planning and business support. Working closely with the Region Tax Manager – Europe, as well as Country Financial Controllers and Tax staff throughput the region, the individual will play a key role in supporting the tax function across the Europe Region. The role will also interface with the Tax team in Houston. Adhering to (and helping to promote) the global policies and standards established by Weatherford’s Corporate Tax Organisation in Houston is also an important part of the role.
Help to maximise the service level of the tax organisation throughout the Europe Region. Support the Region Tax Manager in the design and implementation of a tax strategy for the region, focusing on the following:
Tax Planning and Legal Entity issues
The Business needs of local country managers
Maintenance of tax planning strategies already in place
Risks within the business are identified and managed effectively
Help to ensure Global Tax Policies and standards are implemented, monitored and measured throughout the region. Help to ensure the tax functions is viewed as a valued added function within the region internally. Focus on continuous improvement within tax function in the region. Work with country tax managers across the region to improve overall performance of the tax function. Develop key working relationships within the Europe Region.
QUALIFICATIONS Essential University degree Formal accounting or tax qualification
Preferred Relevant degree (e.g. accountancy, law)
EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCE Essential Experience with large multi-national organizations with general experiences in multiple European jurisdictions. Solid track record of delivering tax advice and expertise. Proven track record in tax compliance and planning within a large multi-national business or Big 4 tax experience or equivalent. Experience interacting with and coordinating multiple business functions.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE Essential Good knowledge of the international tax environment. Has an understanding of the professional standards, ethics and HSSE principles necessary for success in the oil and gas industry. Ideally has knowledge of taxation issues in the oilfield services/contracting sector. Possess sound financial knowledge.
