Job Description:

We are currently looking for a new Principle Mechanical Services Engineer to join our UK Engineering Team based at Loughborough, Leicestershire.

Location – Loughborough

Remuneration

Overall Mission

As a Principal Mechanical Services Engineer you will ensure that the facilities and utilities that enable our specialist manufacturing equipment are designed correctly and installed safely. The position would be based at Loughborough but the role would engage with stakeholders and the engineering team located at other 3M UK sites.

Person Profile

  • Excellent safety record

  • Proven technical ability and experience in design and commissioning of Mechanical Services

  • Experience of working within a manufacturing environment is essential

  • Strong interpersonal/organisational/project management skills

  • Ability to integrate well into the team, work closely with customer groups/suppliers to agree scope/specifications, develop quotations, place orders and manage delivery/installation/validation of equipment on time and within budget

  • Is willing to travel to all UK sites

  • Has a full UK driving licence

  • Ambitions towards achieving Chartered status

Job Responsibilities

  • Design of new mechanical services or modifications to existing mechanical services that enable manufacturing processes or facilities, from conception through to handover, including:

  • Specification development to ensure customer requirements are understood and achieved.

  • Concept design.

  • Detailed design.

  • Installation planning and management.

  • Commissioning, documentation and handover.

  • Working as part of a multi-disciplined project team or independently to specify, control and monitor the mechanical services design, including:

  • Development of project scope, specification, programme and estimated cost.

  • Supplier selection and order placement in line with 3M requirements.

  • Design reviews and acceptance testing.

  • Schedule management and installation supervision.

  • Communicate with all stakeholders including face to face at UK sites.

  • Supporting the wider engineering organisation to provide technical excellence in the field of mechanical services.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience in the design, install and commission of mechanical services for facilities.

  • Experience in the design, install and commission of mechanical services for manufacturing processes.

  • Knowledge of BSRIA guidelines and National Standards.

  • Knowledge of legislated requirements.

  • Knowledge of Building regulations

  • Use of CAD/modelling packages

Qualifications

  • HND or Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent training and experience is essential.

Typical Recruitment Process:

  • 1st Interview – work location or territory based if field based role

  • 2nd Interview / Recruitment Selection Day – Bracknell or Loughborough HO dependent on role location

  • Candidates will be required to complete a variety of assessments relevant to the job requirements

2nd Interview/Assessment day will be held at Loughborough during August/September 2017
