About The Opportunity
An exciting new role as arisen at GKN Aerospace to join the Additive Manufacturing (AM) group as the Commercial and Bid Manager. GKN see AM as a key technology to support the strategic vision of the company helping to generate growth in both existing and new markets. As part of this vision GKN are expanding its AM capabilities on a global basis and require a Bid and Commercial manger to work on new business opportunities from our U.K office in Filton, Bristol.
The main purpose of this role is to be able to effectively manage GKN’s response to all major bid proposals ensuring that the AM business is conducted in line with contracted obligations to customers as well as GKN policy and procedures. This will involve the management of key commercial activities between GKN and its customers and support the resolution and negotiation of key commercial issues and project requirements.
Bind management Responsibilities
Manage the successful response to all major RFP requirements ensuring that GKN follows the appropriate due diligence
Lead, plan, implement and manage the bid review process
Manage direct/indirect team & key stakeholders (internal & external) to ensure all RFP deliverables are met within designated timescales.
Manage the interface between GKN and its customers to obtain all relevant information and to resolve key issues and build a strong customer relationship
Collate, prepare & present RFP data in support of required reporting, gate/milestone reviews and response documentation
Support Business Development in fostering and growing new opportunities with customers
Conduct contract negotiations with potential customers to secure an agreement that protects GKN interests, risks and associated liabilities.
Model and review new business opportunities for commercial viability. Including making recommendations to improve commercial opportunities and / or minimise risk in any new business.
Conduct detailed terms and conditions reviews, including the generation of response documentation, proposed amendments and negotiation of terms
Management of pricing agreements with customers
Must be educated to degree level and experience operating within an Aerospace or similar industry.
·The ability to manage Bid review, assessment and approval and submissions as part of a business winning team.
·Must be a concise and confident communicator at a range of levels within the business and shall demonstrate an ability to generate commercial positions and develop arguments in support of achievement of GKN goals.
·The ability to demonstrate a proven track record in customer management and Commercial experience, including complex negotiation and the successful resolution of key business issues.
·Experience in customer terms and conditions review and negotiation is essential
·Be able to demonstrate an ability to construct, assess and understand financial modelling for new business opportunities.
·Experience of differing pricing models and techniques.
·The ability to apply knowledge of lean and continuous improvement techniques within the role.
·An experienced and effective negotiator.
·Experience of people management at all levels of the business, both internal and external.
·Excellent communication skills.
