Job Overview Johnson Controls Security Products develops products under a number of Brands and this role involves the delivery of IP Video products and Integrated Solutions under the ‘American Dynamics’ Brand. Development of our Solutions takes place in Belfast, USA, China and India with the majority of development in Belfast where the main QA lab is located. Within this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing software for the software automation framework and for enhancing and extending our suite of automated tests. Experience in the development of automation frameworks/tests is desirable.
Job Responsibilities As a Software Automation Engineer your duties will include: the design, modify, develop, write and implementation of software tools, applications and automated test suites for Linux environment, the development of technical documentation, interfacing with other functions within the business to ensure the timely delivery of high quality products, adhering to the development processes including code reviews, design reviews and coding guidelines participation in specification, design and defect reviews and developing your knowledge of functional and non-functional platforms.
Education & Experience You will need to possess a BSc Honours Degree Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent and work related experience within the development/test of application software. It would also be a great benefit to your application if you could demonstrate a history of performing scalability and performance testing and experience of working to a software development Quality Management System
Competencies & Skills required You’re going to need Python experience, preferably in a commercial environment. Knowledge of selenium and web browser development along with QA experience would be an advantage. An understanding of the requirements for test automation and regression testing, and diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. You would further strengthen your application if you possessed experience within Linux Development, Database Programming and video streaming technologies.
