Our European IT Department is excited to announce an immediate opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join the team.
This role will focus on Application Development and with a high degree of expertise in Microsoft Azure and the Microsoft development stack. You will be responsible for maintaining a deep, technical knowledge and thorough understanding of solution design, constraints and operational approaches.
You will help lead and influence the Application Development efforts of our European teams in the UK, Germany, France, and Spain and will be responsible for contributing to and developing technology strategies in Europe that are in line with global solution road maps.
This position reports directly to the Director of European Application Development department and will be based at our European Headquarters in Egham, UK.
Work with global IT to ensure that European IT is an active member of global efforts and standards development
Lead and champion the strategic direction of the organisation and articulate a clear, concise strategic vision and direction of the company. Drive implementation of tactical plans and objectives with significant impact on IT
Operate in a highly autonomous fashion, repeatedly exercising exceptional, independent judgment; balances strategic against tactical planning
Maintain effective relationships with all levels of company management, internal and external customers that promotes understanding and produces results for both parties. Interactions may include negotiation and influence regarding matters of significance to the organisation
Provide oversight on establishing key performance metrics to ensure compliance of established standards, processes, and procedures
Attract and develop employees capable of achieving the goals and objectives of the company
Set clear, near-term financial goals for team(s) or department consistent with Senior Leadership expectations and current business conditions. Manage cost in line with operating performance and forecasted targets
Establish a principled style of leadership consistent with the values of the company. Create and lead an environment that promotes ethics, integrity, and operational excellence
Assess emerging technologies relevant to global, regional, and local business needs
Anticipate skill and resource needs and effectively build plans to balance these across multiple teams
Develop new approaches/solutions to complex design problems while meeting aggressive deadlines with attention to detail
Work closely with in-country IT Managers to help train, mentor, and develop technical staff, identifying and nurturing future leaders
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or similar discipline.
Expertise in Microsoft Azure and the Microsoft development stack.
Extensive experience working with leadership within a complex multi-national business environment.
Experience with flexibility and agility related to critical thinking, and making decisions with complex considerations.
Exceptional communications skills both oral and written with the ability to effectively convey complex information in a manner that is easily understood.
Highly organised, capable of identifying needed work, and prioritising own work accordingly.
Experience leading within a rapidly changing environment.
Experience in acquisition integration activities.
Exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to create a strong partnership atmosphere.
Qualified Candidates must also have the following skills/competencies:
Highly experienced in leveraging external knowledge and research tools.
Experience in technology lifecycle management.
Experience controlling cost and using effective measures to reduce expense.
Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring technical staff.
European language skills a significant plus
