EY Personal Independence Manager in England, United Kingdom

Title: Personal Independence Manager

Location: GB-England-London

Job Number: LON00C70

The Independence Team is responsible for ensuring EY UK and Ireland are in compliance with the auditor independence rules and regulations imposed by external regulatory bodies (eg FRC, SEC, IESBA, EU) and by EY in relation to the conduct of the firm’s auditing business. This also includes ensuring that new audit clients and engagements accepted by the firm do not result in an independence conflict.

The Independence Team (led by the Independence Partner for UK and Ireland) forms part of the UK&I Risk Management Group (“RM”) which reports directly to senior management. There are currently over 20 members in the Independence Team (including conflicts) and a combined total of around 50 individuals within RM; all are located in the EY London office and are supported by approximately 20 individuals in the Global Delivery Services functions in India and Poland.

The opportunity

The assurance service line is a core EY business and the purpose of the independence rules and guidelines is to protect our ability to perform an audit with both objectivity and integrity. Breaching these rules can have serious implications including the loss of clients, fines or other sanctions as well as reputational damage.

Changes in the audit market as a result of a new regulatory landscape and EY’s Vision 2020 growth strategy has placed significant additional demands on the Independence Team. • Managing and developing the team

  • Handling a broad range of personal independence, investment product and pension consultations

Skills and attributes for success
