EY’s Personal Tax Centre provides personal taxation services to thousands of financial services clients both in the UK and overseas, dealing with the UK tax affairs of employees, directors, partners and very high net worth and high profile individuals.

The opportunity

Continuing expansion means that we have a number of opportunities for Tax Advisors to join our teams in Exeter Office.

In this role you will be dealing with the UK tax affairs of employees, directors, partners and very high net worth and high profile individuals.

You will ideally be ATT or CTA qualified or studying towards one of these qualifications; continuing study support for ATT and/or CTA will be given to suitable candidates. However, we are also keen to talk to individuals who have gained their tax knowledge through experience rather than through a more formal examination route.

Your key responsibilities

Working as part of a team, your responsibilities would include:

  • Managing (under supervision) an allocated portfolio of work

  • Assisting in the development of tax trainees

  • Dealing with the compliance of tax processing and preparation of tax returns

  • Verbal and written contact with clients

  • Interaction with other EY offices both in the UK and overseas

  • Contact with HM Revenue and other third parties

  • Ability to complete work to a high professional standard

  • IT literacy and receptive to new IT developments

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Strong tax technical skills

  • Effective time management skills and the ability to remain calm when meeting deadlines

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Knowledge of personal tax regulations

  • A relevant degree or professional qualification (desire to work towards one)
