Cigna Global Health Benefits (CGHB), a leading global health insurer, is going through an exciting period of expansion and we are looking to introduce a new role of Release Manager within the IT function.Reporting to the Production Support Manager, the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of release readiness to ensure the successful implementation of software across our environments whilst ensuring adherence to the IT delivery standards and governance procedures. Releases will be inclusive of complex application updates through to small emergency fix changes. This exciting new role will be suited to an IT Professional who is willing to help build out the new release capability within the team.

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Plan and co-ordinate software application releases to ensure a high quality implementation is achieved
  • Create, manage and facilitate walkthroughs of IT Implementation Plans
  • Lead and facilitate Release Readiness Reviews, Go/No Go Sessions and deployments to the production environment
  • Work closely with the Environment and Configuration Manager ensuring controlled deployments across all environments
  • Collaborate and partner with all stakeholders including business and technical management, application development teams, test teams and project managers to identify dependencies and key release management activities
  • Communicate implementation and release details, schedules and outages to the business and wider IT community
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to the Release Management Processes and Policies
  • Provide continuous improvement across the Release Readiness Processes

Qualifications:

  • Has 7 – 10 years of experience in an Application delivery environment with direct experience in Release Management
  • Capable of translating technical concepts into common-sense business language
  • Knowledge of the Software Delivery Lifecycle with specific expertise in Release Management
  • Understanding of Change Management including status, risks and deployment activities
  • Ability to review facts and escalate issues with recommendations and contingencies
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Program and Project Management experience
  • Experience of Scope Management, Planning & Estimating, Issue, Risk and Communication Management.
  • Comfortable working independently, leading a team or as part of a team
  • Demonstrate accuracy and possess a keen eye for detail
  • Competent user of Microsoft office applications like Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interest in personal development
  • Knowledge of or experience in working in a multicultural/global setting
  • Knowledge of software deployment tools such as Aldon and Urbancode beneficial
  • Knowledge of ITIL is desirable
