An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time, permanent Lead Design Engineer to join our Motorsport team at Williams Advanced Engineering. Reporting to the Chief Engineer - Motorsport, this is a key role where the successful candidate will be the lead mechanical design team and its motorsport projects.

Duties will be wide ranging and varied and will include conducting concept design evaluations and design reviews and drawing sign-off. The role will also include supporting and mentoring junior engineers and the workload allocation for the team in order to meet tight deadlines. Other duties will include the production of customer build specifications and management of CAD assembly structures. Off-site customer visits and occasional event support will be necessary.

The Lead Design Engineer will have experience in component design using 3D CAD software and completing and releasing engineering drawings in a timely manner. It is also essential to have experience in the design and development of rig and test equipment, as well as fault resolution.

The successful candidate will have a degree in mechanical engineering and a minimum of five years design experience in F1 (or equivalent formula). This experience would ideally be in a mechanical design environment, preferably with significant exposure to hydraulics, transmission or suspension systems.

It is essential within this role that both written and verbal communications are of an extremely high standard as the successful candidate with be the main customer liaison and responsible for data transfer to customers.
