Cargill’s Cocoa plant in Liverpool is a production facility at the hub of the UK confectionary industry. As part of our Cocoa and Chocolate business we produce a full range of milk, white and plain chocolate in bulk liquid and compound form used in various applications for customers in the confectionery, biscuit, bakery and dairy industries.

We are looking to appoint a multi skilled production operative able to operate in full the production process and equipment for the manufacture of both liquid and solid chocolate. This will also involve completing quality control testing, providing basic ‘first line’ maintenance and cleaning of the production equipment. A flexible approach is also required as you will be providing cover for holiday and absence on other process lines.

Previous experience of working within a manufacturing environment would be beneficial but not essential. We are also keen to hear from individuals with a proactive and self-motivated approach to work who are looking to develop a career in a skilled manufacturing environment.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Operation of Process equipment and the Automated Control System

  • Complete basic maintenance and cleaning of the process equipment

  • Quality Control sampling and inspection of the product

  • Palletised stock control including; receipt, picking using a Fork Lift Truck, tanker loading and offloading, line feeding and dispatch

  • Maintain acceptable housekeeping and hygiene standards in the factory and perimeter areas


  • Good team player, collaborative working style and excellent communication skills

  • Able to work a shift system including days, nights and weekends

  • Ability to multi task in a high pressure environment

  • Proven ability to use your initiative and solve problems or make improvements

  • Safety focused

  • Basic IT skills

  • Hands on experience of operating process equipment and automated process control systems would be beneficial but not essential

  • Food safety qualifications would be an advantage e.g. Foundation food hygiene certificate, HACCP (level2)
