The AECOM Aviation team has an established track record of successfully delivering aviation services to airport owners/operators, airlines and transportation agencies across the globe. Our aviation experience includes environmental, master planning, systems, terminal planning, engineering and design, construction supervision, transactions and financial advisory services for clients in Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa (EMIA).
We are now seeking an Aviation Project Director to lead on major aviation design projects across the EMIA region.
A well established reputation with the aviation industry and recognised as an expert.
Extensive design experience (ideally from an architecture or engineering background) with experience on large scale aviation projects.
Proven international experience essential – and preferably within EMIA (ideally Europe).
Proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams on $300m-$400m complex projects with high-profile clients.
Must be able to point to experience of being a “trusted advisor” to clients and demonstrate close relationships with senior airport figures
Must have a good working knowledge of the design process and a keen interest in design quality.
Successful candidates will be responsible for leading, managing, coordinating, and administering a group of projects or one major project from conceptual stages through all phases of the projects, with the assistance of the project team.
Reviews bids, documents and technical data for the project; establishing programmes and budgets for contract obligations. Lead bid contract negotiations.
Responsible for leading the project team and ensuring project completion within budget schedule and in conformance with specifications.
Takes the initiative in working with all construction specialists including programing, procurement, quality assurance, construction, finance and accounting and other services required to be performed for the project to achieve an integrated project team approach to the work.
Initiates and directs the planning and development of the project scope, procedure, budget and overall project programming.
Reviews all subcontracts, change orders and contracts/sub-contracts. Lead reviews and change order controls to assure that all change orders are current and adequate.
Reviews and approves all project forecasts; programmes, cost estimates, financial reports and reconciles all commitments that exceed assigned budgets.
Coordinates all client contacts and maintains working relationships at all levels throughout the period of the project. Monitors and controls all contractual commitments to assure that all work is being performed in accordance with the specifications, drawings and terms of the contract.
Reviews equipment procurement methods, programmes, and specific plans including supplier surveillance and methods of delivery to ensure compatibility with the overall project programme and budget.
Conducts regular project and Client meetings to review progress and discuss construction and engineering changes to project suggested by Client.
Resolves problems of coordination, programme, and priority.
Takes the lead in working with all departments including engineering, cost/programme, procurement, quality assurance, construction, and accounting and other services required to be performed for the project.
Thorough understanding of scope of work, covered by the trade contracts.
Demonstrated knowledge of construction, engineering and procurement and other project-related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies.
Ability to manage; take corrective action, monitor work, manage conflict, coordinate the activities of others.
Determines the priority of assignments based on critical deadlines that must be met.
For this role, you will have the following skills/experience:
Degree educated in a relevant discipline.
Excellent project management skills.
Substantial Aviation experience with an excellent understanding of the mechanics in leading studies and projects in the aviation sector and the various stakeholders involved.
