CoE Solution Architect
The CoE (Center of Excellence) is the centralized shared facility, that provides support to the field by promoting collaboration and using best practices around the following focus areas to drive business and/or customer valued results. • Storage Solutions • Private Cloud (may differentiate between Hyper-V an VMware) • File and Content • Data Protection • SAP • Oracle • Analytics
The role of the CoE Solution Architect will be to focus on converting solution requirements into the solution design that ultimately constitute the blueprint for the solution built and made accessible in the CoE. In the process, the solution architect will rely on published reference architectures, best practices, but also get guidance from Solution Leads and/or Pre-Sales regarding applicability and relevance of product specific solutions to customer requirements. The Solution architect will play an important role in ensuring the solution architecture aligns with the roadmaps established by HDS Corporate, and that it adheres to the enterprise architecture principles. The experience and guidance that are developed will become reusable and made available to the wider field and Pre-Sales communities. The CoE Solution Architect will also build strong relationships with entities and/or people from different groups, such as Product Management, to ensure best possible access to information and support is created to build best in class solutions based on optimal performance and configurations. The Solution Architect will also be a strong contributor to Pre-Sales, and will be required to take part in customer facing workshops, demonstrations, presentations and proof of concepts. With the aim to continuously expand on CoE facilities and capabilities, the Solution Architect will be required to be well informed about HDS products and strategies to pro-actively align with upcoming solutions demands and make these available to the field and being able to provide all the support needed to assist them in positioning these solutions with customers.
Help to define and architect HDS Solutions to be made available in the centralized EDC (European Distribution Center) facility to be accessible to showcase functionality, solution fit, solution benefits and more. Manage the successful planning and consistent implementation and delivery of solution demonstrations and proof of concepts Maintaining a clean and operable working lab space in the EDC to serve the need of showcasing HDS solutions to customers. Work with Account teams and customers to ensure that the POC/Demo request and documentation process is followed consistently; execute POC’s/Demo’s when a test plan, business justification and success criteria documentation requirements are met. Oversee the “change management process” when client or account team needs or requirements change during the planning, deployment or execution of a POC/Demo. Attend on-going training to keep technical skills up to date with respect to HDS Product infrastructure and application solutions. Build an on-going log of “lessons learned” for each technology area to help drive improvements in future field and/or customer engagements. Deconstructing all environments once completed and ensuring proper restock accounting for all the components used.

Ability to quickly comprehend complex converged architecture and application designs in order to streamline the underlying installation processes for rapid deployment. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with enterprise architects, application specialists, engineers, developers, product management and executive level stakeholders in order to establish a framework for each opportunity. Strong technical knowledge and understanding of HDS solution architectures and virtualization technologies and how they interact with application environments. Proficient with project tools, such as MS Project Manager, Visio or similar technical project and architecture documentation applications. Well-organized and adaptable clear thinker with a tolerance for ambiguity and snippy people! Willingness to accept responsibility and take ownership when necessary to keep projects and policies on track. Innovative, actively looking for solutions to problems, a catalyst for change.
