Role : Client-Onboarding Engineer

Reporting to : Client-Onboarding Team Lead

Job Description

The Network Client On-Boarding team works closely with internal and external teams to successfully on-board new clients and to manage connectivity requirements for existing clients. These clients are located globally and connect to the Fixnetix Low Latency network to enable access a variety of services. The team consists of experienced network project engineers who are used to delivering multiple projects, working to agreed deadlines.

The Network Client On-Boarding team provides 2nd/ 3rdline 24x7 network support escalation for the Global Service Centre (GSC).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Review HLD’s and LLD’s to gain a detailed understanding of the proposed work

  • Work with external and internal client design teams to finalise the design, and to clarify all requirements prior to implementation

  • Create device configurations based on finalised design

  • Work closely with internal and external teams, including 3rdParty Infrastructure contractors to ensure all physical aspects of the network are correctly configured;

    o Location of devices including any modular components

    o Create patching schedules

    o Rack Elevations

  • Work closely with other internal and external teams and Project Managers. Ensuring the network elements are deployed on time and fit for purpose of the solutions being implemented

  • Execute and document detailed test plan prior to go-live. Remediate any issues identified during the testing phase where applicable

  • Produce detailed documentation of final network implementation

  • Provide training and guidance to support teams during transition period

  • Maintain client documentation

  • 2nd/ 3rdline 24x7 network support escalation for theGlobal Service Centre (GSC).

    Essential Skills

  • Strong Cisco switching/routing skills, good knowledge of routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF and BGP
  • Strong Arista switching/routing skills, good knowledge of routing protocols including, OSPF and BGP
  • Experience of large multicast environments, PIM SM, IGMP
  • Demonstrate Multicast troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrable experience of exchange/broker/ECN connectivity
  • CCNP certified (or equivalent knowledge)
  • Knowledge of firewall technologies ideally Juniper, Palo Alto and Fortinet based
  • Manage client / exchange access requests
  • Maintain client documentation
  • Shift rota - 3 shifts covering 7am to 7pm
  • 2nd line problem escalation
  • On call support (3 or 4 week rota)
  • Comfortable working within a team but equally able to manage workload independently
  • Experience of financial markets and investment banking
