Risk & Governance Director - LSL Property Services – Estate Agency Division
Salary – Substantial Package – Negotiable DOE
LSL are looking to recruit a Risk & Governance Director to join our expanding nationwide Estate Agency Division. The location of the role is flexible with utopia being commutable to our sites in either York, Newcastle upon Tyne or London.
LSL is a leading provider of residential property services to its key customer groups. Services to consumers include: residential sales & lettings - through our 500+ branch Estate Agency network to include brands such as Your Move, Marsh & Parsons, Intercounty & Reeds Rains, surveying, conveyancing and advice on mortgages and insurance products. Services to mortgage lenders include: valuations and panel management services, asset and property management services.
In 2016 LSL reported revenue of £307.8m and Operating Profit of £34.6m and employ some 5,000 people across the UK.
The role will report directly into the Executive Director – Estate Agency and will form a critical part of the Management Team which is located across multi sites in London, York and Newcastle.
The clear objective of the role is to identify and mitigate the Estate Agency divisions risks and to integrate risk management into the divisions strategic planning and day to day operational procedures.
Maintain & demonstrate compliance to Residential sales regulatory requirements including but not limited to: Estate Agency Act; The Property Ombudsman; Trading Standards; CMA; Consumer Protection Regulations; AML and POCA, Anti-bribery, Advertising Standards, distance selling regulations and EPC requirements
Maintain & demonstrate compliance to Lettings regulatory requirements including but not limited to: Tenancy Deposit Scheme, ARLA requirements; CMA guidance for Lettings Professionals; HMRC requirements
Business continuity and crisis management
Information Security and Data Protection including compliance with pending GDPR legislation
Health and safety of Estate agency employees, and as appropriate customers
Business acumen to understand key organisational priorities and to ensure the team is aligned in the correct areas to include a sound commercial understanding of P&L drivers and particularly costs
Proven track record in operational risk management.
Strong understanding and implementation of internal governance procedures.
Numerical skills and the ability to develop business cases which weigh benefits against costs;
Ability to understand broad business risks.
Demonstrable People leadership and development experience.
Ability to rationally assess and handle incidents when placed in pressured situations
Excellent presentation skills; an articulate and confident speaker.
Strong written communication skills
Collaboration & influencing skills in matrix organisation
Experience of pro-actively leading a team through Change.
Degree educated or qualification from the Institute of Risk Managers
10+ years’ experience in risk management environments
Ability to both grow and manger the existing Risk & Governance team
We would wish to see experience of at least two of the following –
HMRC compliance (notably Financial Crime)
Information Security & Data Protection
Estate agency compliance
Health & Safety
