General Description

Purpose of the Role:

We are currently looking for an exceptional Data Scientist to join our growing team in

Staines-upon-Thames. You will be an expert in working with data, curious about data and patterns,

passionate to turn huge data sets into accurate and meaningful information which is easy to understand and has commercial impact on Samsung products.

As a data scientist your role will involve:

  • Creatively analysing patterns in boundless quantities of existing and new data with complex data

modeling, machine learning or statistical analysis.

  • Visualizing large sets of data to extract actionable items from information, across diverse

customer-facing platforms.

  • Finding creative opportunities from the data to produce insights and recommendations that help

drive Samsung’s business success.

  • Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed design.

Necessary Skills / Attributes

Skills and attributes:

Required Skills

  • Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics,

Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, etc.)

  • Programming proficiency in Python (NumPy, pandas etc.), R, Octave, C++/Java

  • Data modelling and cleansing experience in above languages

  • Extensive experience working with big data sets

  • Experience with pre-processing tools like Hive, Impala, Spark, and Pig

  • Exposure to SQL and relational databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB etc.)

  • Prior experience with one or more of the following: collaborative filtering, clustering, classification,

segmentation, regression, decision trees, statistical models

  • Excellent communication, team work and a results-oriented attitude

  • Proficiency in problem solving and debugging

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working with the Hadoop Ecosystem

  • Experience implementing a real-world recommender or ranking system

  • Exposure to CNN, RNN, LTSM

  • Experience working with different data sources (REST APIs, different database technologies, etc.)
