Air Systems Avionics Design Engineer Broughton Summary of Role: The Air Systems Avionics Design Engineer roles are required to undertake a number of positions at varying levels within the Design Team of Raytheon, Airborne Solutions. The work will involve aircraft modifications for a Military Aircraft Programme currently under Civil oversight. The successful candidates will work within a mixed civil and military certification environment, involving EASA, CAA and the MAA. They will report to the Airborne Solutions Principal Aircraft Systems Engineer and Chief Engineer. The successful candidates will be involved in the design, test and certification of aircraft power and avionics systems to meet customer requirements and to support the introduction of new mission systems. The work will involve close liaison with the Mechanical Systems Engineers and other aircraft design, certification and build functions. Main Duties: The Systems Avionics Design Engineers will part of a programme team of Aircraft Systems Engineers working on existing projects and will report to the Airborne Solutions Principal Aircraft Systems Engineer and Chief Engineer. The work on the programme will include, but not necessarily be limited to the introduction of mission system electrical power supplies , TCAS II, DME, ADF, Audio and Data Integrating systems, as well as special mission equipment. Additionally the Avionics Design Engineers will be part of the Airborne Solutions Business Unit Engineering team and will be required to support and potentially lead work on other projects as required. This could include supporting teams of other Airborne Solutions Engineers and/or technical management of sub-contractor organisations in support of RTN programmes. These roles are ideally suited to an aircraft avionic engineer with industry related experience. The roles offer an exciting challenge in supporting the Airborne Solutions programmes with responsibilities for: Customer liaison to develop customer concepts and documentation of requirements. Liaison with Original Equipment Manufacturers and other suppliers to gather detailed understanding and suitable documentation to facilitate detailed installation/ integration design. Initial system design and subsequent liaison with the detail design team to develop the final solution in a timely manner. Liaison with the Production Organisation to solve problems arising in installation. Production of test documentation and other analyses/ reports. Liaison with test / production engineers to complete test regime as required. Production of modification control documentation and subsequent certification of the resulting modification with CAA, EASA and/or MAA. Liaison with Certification Authorities as required. Production and modification of aircraft Technical Publications supplements. Presenting information at both internal and external design reviews. Reporting to programme and functional reviews Candidate Requirements: Essential: Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering, avionic engineering, physics or similar engineering or scientific discipline. Proven experience in the design, integration and certification of aircraft avionic and electronic systems at a senior level in either a civil or military environment. Knowledge of civil modification and certification processes Wide knowledge of current avionic sensors and systems. Knowledge of aircraft power generation and distribution systems. Understanding and experience of the Systems Engineering life cycle. Experience of working within a multi-discipline engineering team within the aerospace industry. An able communicator in verbal, written and presentational forms. A logical problem solver who can operate effectively under stretching project constraints. Able to manage and work within agreed timescales. Able to use initiative to improve team process and performance. Self motivated and Team Player. IT Literate. Desirable: Experience of customer facing environments. Experience in the support of production organisations from within a design organisation. Knowledge of EASA certification specifications.
