JOB DESCRIPTION:

Primary function

To maintain optimum supply of materials for a portfolio of purchased and/or manufactured materials.

Major responsibilities

Defining planning parameters and ensuring these parameters are created and maintained in the planning system, to optimise on supply and cost and in support of current production and inventory plans.

Responsible for interrogation of MRP output, to review and adjust as required before approving recommendations for action and ensuring that Purchase Requisitions are released and materials ordered.

Raise and maintain supplier schedules for materials aligned with production requirements and stock holding policies as defined and amended from time to time.

Undertake or arrange expediting of materials to satisfy production requirements and liaise with suppliers as necessary. Monitor and manipulate effectivity changes, minimising distressed inventory associated with planned changes.

Identify and report material at risk and distressed inventory, ensuring the timely disposition of obsolete material.

Responsible for material progression through to the manufacturing area and ensure the timely disposition of nonconforming materials, the return and replacement of unsatisfactory or faulty items.

Propose, monitor and regularly review supplier maintained inventory levels.

Maintain effective links and communication with suppliers in respect of supply status of materials under your control.

Manage and participate in crossfunctional teams for introduction of new products,suppliers and materials and implementing improvements in support of site goals.

Liaise with other departments to optimise planning functionality.

Maintain records, prepare reports and give presentations as necessary.

Actively work in support of the reduction of waste, identifying the source and contributing to the process of eliminating waste wherever possible and improving the effectiveness of the planning process.

Minimum training & experience required

Previous experience of working with computerised materials planning and inventory management systems, an understanding of planning / inventory management systems and policies.

Knowledge of MRP and its relationship to DOH inventory.

Has demonstrable commercial acumen.

Ability to assess priorities and execute tasks in a timely and effective manner.

All of these experience requirements are necessary to ensure that the role is performed to an acceptable level of professionalism, integrity and confidence to meet the needs of the organisation, internal customers as well as suppliers.

Minimum education required

GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths. Education necessary to demonstrate ability to grasp commercial issues and analytical skills are necessary to resolve them.
