AGROP is the industry wide collaborative programme to prepare for and ultimately execute the defuelling of the nuclear power stations. The overall objective of the programme is to complete defuelling activities safely, in a cost effective manner and to allow economic benefit through maximum low carbon electricity generation to support the needs of the UK.

Working closely with Programme Managers across the AGROP delivery partner organisations the role will drive the definition, development, and delivery of the work and associated programme controls required across various parts of the programme.

AGROP delivery programme is in its infancy and as such work streams and working groups are at varying level of maturity. An ability to communicate and bring structure to the work would be beneficial.

  • Work as part of a team within Lifetime and Transition, and the AGROP PMO, reporting to AGROP Programme Manager.

  • Define and manage the reporting of information across the delivery partners in the programme. This will include production of meeting material and supporting information.

  • Support creation of project/ programme documentation to help drive the definition of key work areas (i.e. definition documents, business cases, etc...) or to communicate programme requirements and objectives (benefits maps, roadmaps, etc....).

  • Various ad-hoc activities to support the broad nature of work areas in the AGROP Programme and to be flexible to changing requirements of the programme as it matures and evolves.

  • Management and reporting of cross organisational / programme risks, actions, issues and changes.

  • Support the Programme Manager with stakeholder engagement and key communications across the programme and the associated delivery organisations.

Note3: May be asked to work unsociable hours during Station Outage and provide Weekend / Bank Holiday cover.

Note4: Expected to attend during normal working hours Monday to Friday.



  • Ideally be qualified to HND/Degree standard, or an equivalent, in a relevant technical or engineering discipline with a history of on-going development.

  • Nuclear experience

  • Be a good team player, able to network with and communicate with teams at multiple locations.

  • Experience in open scope projects which result in tangible delivery strategies would be an advantage,

  • Possess strong oral and written communications skills with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels in the Company.

  • A proven record of success in definition and delivery of programmes and projects in an operational and/or safety critical environment.

  • A demonstrable knowledge of health and safety standards and systems in an industrial environment

  • An understanding of the project lifecycle from concept to commissioning.

  • The ability to work to meet business imperatives and address issues in a logical and progressive manner.

  • Flexible and willing to undertake a broad range of project management tasks.

  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

  • Strong organisational and project management skills;

  • Leadership;

  • Good communications skills

  • Good interpersonal skills, including questioning for clarification and establishing of facts, observation and active listening;

  • BPSS or SC level security clearance (must be willing to go through clearance process if no clearance held at time of application, be capable of obtaining a full Security Clearance).


  • Project Management qualification (e.g. APMP, PRINCE) desirable.

  • Pre-existing knowledge and experience of the nuclear industry and/or AGR plant systems would be a distinct advantage

  • Experience of interfacing with the NOA is advantageous
