The selected candidate will join the CME Engineering and Execution team in Belfast as a QA Analyst, initially supporting CME Direct. The Belfast team is a high performing group of individuals that deliver on a broad range of functions including systems/business analysis, software development and quality assurance services. The team is responsible from initial request review, impact assessment, and prioritization through to solution implementation.
CME Direct is our flagship energies and OTC trading platform. A .NET based thick client, it provides our customers with the means to execute a variety of trades against our exchange. The platform offers a rich market data, and order book, as well as more complex order execution and strategy functions. CME Direct is a strategic platform for CME and our business.
Although initially working in the CME Direct space, the engineering and execution team also develop a variety of trading and post-trade solutions, supporting our exchange and clearing business. Internal mobility and flexibility are a key part to our agile approach to technology delivery. The successful candidate, throughout their career, will form a key part in driving our success across technology, and will find opportunities to work in a variety of projects and technologies, beyond their initial team and specialism
Actively participates in preliminary story review, providing constructive feedback and input for work effort estimation. Actively participates in white box test case identification sessions to establish high level consensus on test case sets for corresponding stories. Defines white box test case test steps as well as complementary black box test cases for corresponding stories Executes functional tests and/or works closely with the development organization in developing automated tests, verifying and reporting on actual results vs. expected results Escalates issues and risks as required to management and team members Troubleshoots application issues Reports on/tracks application defects Identifies environment needs in support of testing needs Participates in continuous improvement efforts by helping the team to identify practical means of reducing time to market while maintaining high quality products Identifies and champions automated testing, working with the wider team to ensure automation is implemented, reducing the need to manual regression Follows CME Group SDLC standards
Essential Experience / Education
B.A. or B.Sc. in business, computer science or a similar degree strongly preferred, but substantial relevant experience could substitute Ability to understand and absorb business & technology concepts quickly Excellent problem solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrable experience navigating Windows and/or UNIX operating systems (OS commands, executing scripts, editing files, etc.) Ability to create and execute SQL queries in Oracle or SQL server DBMS
Prior experience working in financial services/exchange space Prior experience working with BDD methodologies and automated acceptance criteria Prior experience working with Agile methodologies Prior experience using Confluence and JIRA
