As Project Controller you support and advise the project manager on planning and control of the projects to secure a reliable insight into the financial status of the various projects.
Areas of Responsibility:
Act as financial conscience of the project managers.
Responsible for all project administration and mapping of the project risks that could impact the project budget.
Responsible for raising sales invoices and job modifications in the system in timely manner.
Monitoring of expenditure on projects, producing adhoc financial project reports and project KPIs (next to standard system reports) and reporting them to the Heads of Departments and Heads of Section.
Ensure that at all times a reliable insight into the financial status of projects can be obtained by a correct and timely processing of all accounting principles, in compliance with company guidelines.
Providing a reliable insight into the financial status of projects via conducting periodic reviews with the project manager for revenue recognition via obtaining the estimate-to-complete (ETC) for at least lump sum projects and time & material projects (with a cap); analyze and challenge the input of the project manager where necessary if the ETC is justifiable via trend analysis and current status.
Regular communication with project managers and dealing with ad hoc queries.
The individuals will work closely with the project manager to ensure Projects are managed and monitor correctly and the financial status of projects are appropriately and accurately recorded in the financial performance of departments.
Projects are to be updated on a regularly basis to reflect the correct status.
Invoices are raised in timely manner with very few credit notes being required.
Key that accurate WIP is reflected by each month end
Part of the measures will be to ensure that there are:
no major write offs at the end of the project,
WIP is realistic and low as possible,
changes in projects are tracked i.e. no surprises
Invoices are billed according to billing schedule; accurate and timely
Responsive to PM.
Technical / Professional Expertise Required:
You have at demonstrable and relevant work experience.
You have excellent analytical and communication skills
Clear aptitude and understanding of how projects are managed, including the financial principles associated with managing projects..
Strong organisational and prioritising skills
Good knowledge of Excel
Preferably, some knowledge of Oracle
Flexible and adaptable to work and time
The ability to act on initiative and to stay calm under pressure
