Naval Forecasting Analyst

We are looking for a new Naval Forecasting Analyst.
The role sits within the Jane’s Naval Platforms team researching, tracking and assessing warship transfers, ship building programmes and capacities around the world.
The successful candidate will work within a global team to swiftly collect, assess and interpret data to help compile a comprehensive picture of naval shipbuilding, spot market opportunities and capability gaps around the world.
This work will particularly focus on Jane’s Markets Forecast and Jane’s Defence Procurement products, but will also feed into Jane’s Fighting Ships.
Some travel will be required.
Collection and analysis of open-source information;
Maintenance and upkeep of bespoke electronic databases and country files, taking account of relevant news and key events;
Working closely with a global pool of subject matter experts to deliver timely, accurate and meaningful data and analysis;
Participate in online seminars and consultancy projects;
Write compelling analytical pieces for our quarterly Jane’s Defence Insight Reports programme and news publications including Jane’s Defence Weekly, Jane’s Navy International and International Defence Review.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree in a defence-related subject, or a numerate degree with a proven interest in defence;
The candidate will also be proficient in database management and analysing data using Excel and other tools. Training can be given to the right candidate, but experience and proven ability are a bonus.
Experience and Skills:
Previous experience of forecasting market demand and drivers;
Keen attention to detail and demonstrable understanding of the value of strong data governance;
Previous professional or academic experience within the defence industry;
Strong written and oral English language skills are essential, proficiency in other languages will be looked on favourably;
Autonomy and a personal drive to meet deadlines while meeting established qualitative and quantitative goals with minimum daily supervision;
The ability to juggle multiple deadlines without compromising quality;
Demonstrable open source intelligence research abilities.
