As a Web Developer you will become part of a respected and hardworking team, providing support to Clients and other team members alike. Whilst the role is in the Development team the successful candidate will also work closely with the Sales and Operations teams, gaining a good knowledge and experience across a number of different skills. Applicants should be keen, hardworking and have excellent technical skills and background. The role will primarily focus around development of our two web based platforms, TrackRecord and ProjectMapper.

TrackRecord is Jacobs’ web based compliance management tool, owned and developed by Jacobs. The software is delivered in conjunction with consultancy services to aid clients in managing regulatory, corporate and project compliance issues. TrackRecord has managed over a million compliance obligations to enable Jacobs’ Clients to meet and exceed their compliance requirements.

TrackRecord is written with the following technologies C#, Microsoft SQL Server, HTML, JS, CSS.

ProjectMapper is Jacobs’ web based GIS mapping solution used for publishing project specific data sourced from client datasets, government organisations and information generated by the project. Datasets include information generated within CAD, GIS and in-house software.

This role is based in the Jacobs Glasgow office located in the heart of Glasgow city centre, right next to Glasgow Central train station.

Duties associated with this post will include:

  • Developing, maintaining and supporting the TrackRecord and ProjectMapper in-house web applications

  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • Provide accurate time estimates

  • Communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Proven professional experience with ASP.NET / C# (3-10 years)

  • Advanced experience of T-SQL / SQL Server (3-10 years)

  • Advanced practical HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, CSS, Responsive design

  • Flexible and able to adapt to new languages and technologies

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Excellent focus, ambition and attention to detail

  • Advanced technical knowledge of typical office software applications

  • Analytical mind who can bring clarity to difficult situations

  • Have initiative and the ability to work autonomously

Desirable

  • GIS Development experience (Geoserver, PostGIS, Openlayers, ESRI)

  • Other web technologies (IIS, PostgreSQL, REST APIs)

  • Mobile App development (Xamarin, Swift, Objective-C, Java)

  • Cloud

  • Big Data / Data Analytics
