About the role
As the Group Financial Accountant you will join the Group Finance team consisting of a Group Finance Manager and Group Finance Director. You will join a team which is responsibility for the Group Reporting of a fast growing group of companies with a diverse investment base.
Essential Job Functions
Input into the collation of monthly financial results for all subsidiaries and associates within the Octopus Capital Group (including KPIs and variance analysis).
Input into the preparation of the monthly Octopus Capital Board pack – which outlines how all subsidiaries are performing verses budget.
Input into the preparation of the annual statutory accounts of Octopus Capital Limited and other subsidiaries which are considered to be ‘Group’ subsidiaries – and liaison with group auditors.
Assist with the preparation of acquisition accounting and related integration of new subsidiaries into Octopus’s group reporting processes.
Liaison with the Octopus Investments Finance team for input re all Group matters which interact with the Octopus Investments Finance team.
Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations for all balances held by Octopus Capital ‘Group’ entities.
Responsible for the Octopus Group intercompany reconciliation process
Octopus Group Finance recharges – ensuring ‘Group’ costs are rechargeable where possible .
Input into the preparation of annual tax computations relating for Octopus ‘Group’ entities.
Preparation of bank covenant reporting where appropriate
Input into the implementation of new group consolidation software – to be accessed remotely by all subsidiaries for periodic reporting and consolidation, and once implemented – ensuring this system remains fit for purpose as the ‘Group’ continues to grow.
Job Specific Experience/Technical Skills/Abilities
Qualified Accountant ACA – with previous consolidation experience.
Detailed knowledge of accounting standards, especially relating to group consolidations under FRS 102.
Strong analytical, excel and presentation skills
Experience of reporting to senior management and working with a wide range of stakeholders
