Global Fixed Income

BlackRock’s Global Fixed Income (GFI) platform brings together distinct, yet complementary businesses under one global structure. Each of our investment teams are responsible for delivering performance and continuing to evolve and improve their investment process so that future performance can be delivered.

The Liability Driven Investment (LDI) business is a distinct part of Global Fixed Income which leverages the breadth and depth of the entire fixed income platform when delivering solutions for our clients. BlackRock has been managing LDI mandates for over 20 years in the EMEA region. Since taking-on our first mandates in 1995, the business has grown to 251 LDI clients with £189bn1 AUM.

Who we are

The Client Strategy team is responsible for the design, development and support of LDI solutions to institutional investors. The team is the primary contact point for clients and prospects and leads the development of our LDI investment proposition for the European LDI market. The team works closely with two partner teams within the LDI department:

  • Portfolio Management – this team is responsible for trade construction, implementation and on-going management of LDI portfolios and delivering bottom-up product and market knowledge and execution expertise.

  • Client Fulfilment – this team is responsible for coordinating the team's mandate change and service excellence efforts for LDI mandates.

What you will be doing

  • Design and implement client specific LDI strategies, mainly focused on UK clients. Specific stages that you will be responsible for:

Engage with existing and prospective clients to identify the investment challenges they face and to understand their goals and objectives; Design solutions using BlackRock’s analytical toolset and market views and prepare client materials; Articulate and explain results to clients; Facilitate the implementation of an agreed investment strategy; and Provide ongoing technical support to the client with respect to the mandate (i.e. training, delivering mandate and market updates, resolving client requests).

  • Contribute to idea generation and production of thought leadership tailored for LDI clients and prospects.

  • Work closely and in partnership with internal stakeholders across the organisation to achieve the above.

What you should have

  • 2+ years of LDI or relevant experience (either asset management or advisory)

  • Experience working with institutional pooled funds is desirable but not essential

  • Some technical, product and market knowledge across the fixed income universe

  • Excellent communication skills in writing and verbally; capable of explaining complex concepts in simple terms

  • Experience managing and working with multiple stakeholders

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

  • High level of self-motivation, ownership and initiative

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
