Senior Manager, EMEA Facilities

Dow Jones Global Real Estate, Facilities & Security builds, maintains, administers and protects a portfolio of versatile, efficient workspaces for Dow Jones businesses across the globe.

Dow Jones GREFS seeks a Senior Manager to supervise and administer our offices in Europe, Middle East and Africa. The ideal candidate will have experience in facilities management, working with service vendors and building managers, and in commercial real estate, working with brokers and determining space requirements. He or she will have experience working in a corporate setting, with the curiosity to understand a company with a broad variety of business units with differing space needs. He or she will have terrific interpersonal skills and an outgoing personality, to aid in forging bonds of trust with our clients – colleagues across Dow Jones who work in our offices - to aid in our goal of providing excellent customer service.

Based in London, the Senior Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of our two dozen offices across the EMEA region. He or she will aid in searches for new office space and in construction projects to fit out those spaces. The Senior Manager will establish and maintain relationships with building managers and service vendors, ensuring high levels of service for our offices, and with the employees working in those offices, so we can learn of problems and solve them.

Role and responsibilities:

  • Work as part of the global GREFS team, reporting to Director, Workplace Design, who is based in New York.

  • Regularly review EMEA real estate portfolio to ensure offices meet our needs in various cities, in terms of location, size and layout.

  • Supervise the office manager who runs our EMEA headquarters office in London.

  • Participate in projects to acquire new office space, including work with reps of the business to understand their needs, site searches, aid in elements of office design, aid in creation of RFPs and contractor selection, assist with construction administration for office fit-out projects, gather project costs for the Manager of Project Planning, work with the Relocation Manager during staff and office moves, reinstatement and handover of old offices, when applicable.

  • Ensure appropriate service levels for Dow Jones EMEA offices. Manage service providers. Set up compliant health and safety policies and practices as required. Gather information for corporate insurance requirements. Work with office managers across EMEA to fulfill office needs.

  • Aid in real estate and facilities issues as necessary for sister News Corp companies operating within EMEA.

  • Provide budget input on occupancy costs and capital projects, as required.


  • Facilities management experience and ability to read architectural and engineering drawings is a must.

  • The role involves travel across the region, sometimes at short notice. Travel is a regular part of the role, comprising up to 20% of work hours.

  • Good interpersonal skills and an outgoing personality will be important aids to success in the role, which has a large element of customer service.

  • Experience working in a multinational corporate setting is preferred.

  • Experience manipulating spreadsheets is required. Experience using Google business applications is preferred.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is an advantage.
