Job Purpose:

To assist the Solutions teams in bringing new products to market, including structuring aspects that relate to legal, tax and treasury/liquidity questions. Keeping abreast of regulatory developments, to provide front-office focused updates on those developments and importantly to ensure business continuity across MAG platforms; as well as to consider and pursue opportunities arising from such changes.

The job requires the provision of business input into operation of issuance programmes to reflect business requirements; assisting Sales and Structuring to address Treasury, Legal and Tax questions that arise in relation to specific structured notes traded across multiple asset classes and issuance programmes.

The role also includes leading and facilitating new product approval applications and meeting other internal Citi controls and approval processes.

Job Background/context:

The MAG Complex and Issuance Solutions teams work closely together to maintain and expand Citi’s structured note, warrant, fund and OTC wrappers for offering Equities, FX, Hybrids and Commodities products across a range of issuance programmes. A full front to back knowledge of the business is required, with specific emphasis on treasury, liquidity, tax, legal and related regulatory framework applicable to such issuance. To accomplish this we work closely with Sales, Trading and many other groups both within Markets and outside (including Treasury, Finance, Legal, Tax, Technology and Middle Office).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with Sales and Structuring to understand requirements and identify platform gaps/risks that need to be addressed

  • Assist with the development of platform infrastructure and capabilities

  • Monitor regulatory developments relating to capital and liquidity requirements, structured note issuance and derivatives, as well as US and EU changes to withholding tax and source rules, to assess their impact on MAG products

To inform MAG Business, as well as Sales and Trading, of limitations / rules relating to the above as a complement to more formal and detailed guidance from Control Functions, and to work with relevant control functions in preparing such material

  • Develop platform to facilitate liquidity measurement and management on structured note issuances with due consideration to margining, hedging, capital constraints

  • Work with sales to increase our penetration of regional end investors and intermediaries

University degree + post-graduate qualification

Chartered Accountant / CFA / Lawyer


  • Candidates are required to have strong accounting, tax and legal knowledge relating to structured products, especially as these affect US and European issuers

  • Candidates should have an understanding of Reg W, Dodd-Frank and Volcker Rule, EMIR, MiFID, Basel, CRR as well as resolution planning and related US/EU rules especially as they pertain to structured notes issuance

  • Structuring and financial modelling skills are recommended

  • Legal and Treasury expertise on derivatives, structured notes
