AstraZeneca’s Engineering Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship programme is designed to create the technicians and engineers of the future. Engineering apprentices play a hugely important role at AstraZeneca, solving challenges that arise from some of the most advanced equipment in the industry. As an engineering apprentice, you will be required to maintain complex equipment and ensure that high standards are adhered to for safety, manufacturing quality and documentation.

Under supervision the role holder will work on:

  • Electrical and / or mechanical planned, unplanned maintenance, and process automation support activities

  • Performing unplanned equipment repairs and complete planned maintenance activities as per the schedule

  • Trouble shooting problems in the event of mechanical and / or electrical failure of equipment and must be able to recommend parts needed for the effective repair of equipment to deliver a timely response to support manufacturing

In addition to the valuable working experience you will have the opportunity to study towards professional qualifications, including a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering.

The apprenticeship programme commences annually in September at the Macclesfield site and the apprentice will receive an Apprenticeship Training Plan that describes the training they need to meet the standard. It may include a mixture of external and internal training that will ensure the Apprentice is fully competent by the end of their programme. It will show when each area of the standard must be acquired and assessed and which areas may require off the job.

The Apprentice will gain transferable core skills and knowledge. In addition they will gain skills specific to the working practices of their place of employment. The requirements of the Apprenticeship are designed to offer stretch and progression.
