Summary of Role

As a Fund Accounting Associate you will provide support to the Towers Watson Investment Management fund range and work with in the UK Fund Operations team with a specific focus on the operational aspects of supporting a number of Irish domiciled funds.

The wider team administers a range of fund of fund solutions for clients and the primary responsibility of the Fund Accounting Associate will be to own the production and completion of Fund Accounting activities for the daily dealing equity fund and Investment Trust. Daily activities will include reconciliation of fund prices and securities, recording and monitoring of trade confirmations, daily cash reconciliation, liaising with the Fund administrator and asset managers and performing a shadow accounting function to ensure daily oversight and governance of the NAVs.

The Role

The Fund Accounting Associate is responsible for ensuring that key documentation is distributed to third parties to enable the investment manager to carry out agreed operational functions on behalf of it funds and a range of pension fund clients

  • Act as the main point of contact specifically in relation to a daily priced Investment Trust as well as assisting the team across the whole Fund range when required.

  • Work with third party Administrators and communicate effectively with them.

  • Communicate effectively with other internal teams and senior management, acting as the main point of contact for the daily reconciliations of a daily priced Investment Trust and a daily dealing equity Fund.

  • Work with colleagues in the UK Fund Operations team in order to provide a reliable and efficient service to our clients. This includes being involved in shadow accounting, calculation of Fund NAV’s, monitoring of trade confirmations and reconciliations.

  • Complete daily fund accounting responsibilities and assist with other operational activities relating to the wider Fund range such as credit facility management, currency and share class hedging, fund budgets, invoice payments and expenses.

  • Support our clients to ensure that UK Fund Operations and in particular fund accounting activities are implemented and followed efficiently.

  • Promote an environment of change and efficiency by helping to streamline the functions of the wider UK Fund Operations team.

  • Assist in the completion of regulatory filings in respect of our funds businesses from time to time to ensure regulatory compliance procedures are adhered to.

  • Adhere to our Professional Excellence principles to ensure that any work undertaken is completed in a manner that adds value to our clients.

  • Demonstrate risk-management excellence and ensure appropriate procedures are adhered to.

The Requirements

  • Maths/ Finance related degree or A level.

  • Good understanding or direct experience working with equities in Investment Trusts and equity manager of manager structures is desirable.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and changing deadlines.

  • Daily Fund Accounting experience advantageous.

  • Strong numerical and organisational skills.

  • Strong problem solving skills and good attention to detail.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills to ensure that information and knowledge is shared and cascaded appropriately.

  • Strong team-player, goal and delivering orientated with ability to work autonomously when needed.

  • Working knowledge of MS office package (advanced Excel desirable).
